Horary Astrology can be applied to any kind of question, including those that concern our own inner state. Today I feel particularly unmotivated. It is not simply a case of a blue Monday, but more like inner depletion. I decided to analyse myself through a horary chart.

The Ascendant is in Leo, so I am signified by the Sun. That Sun is in Aquarius, in the 8th house. Leo and Aquarius form an oppositional axis. On one side stands the solar principle of centrality, vitality, individuality and spiritual axis. On the other there is Aquarius, its exact opposite. So the Sun is in detriment in Aquarius, describing a state of inner dimming, of reduced vital intensity, as if the flame were low and subjected to rigid mental structures rather than operating from a living centre.

Also the Sun is in the 8th house, one of the most difficult, associated with fear, loss, and death. There are no applying aspects to the Sun, pointing to a current state of isolation, withoutu a clear movement out of this condition.

The Sun is disposed by Saturn, which is in the 9th house in Aries. Saturn is the greater malefic, signifying privation, decay, illness, ageing, fear and restriction. In Aries, a hot, dry and martial sign, Saturn is in detriment, so its malefic nature is corrupted. Everything that is signified by it becomes even more troubling.

The 9th house is the house of God, meaning, philosophy, systems of knowledge. The fact that Saturn rules my Sun from this house, and does so in poor condition, shows that my current disbelief is directly tied to a Saturnian weight upon these matters. There is distrust towards spiritual discourses, and a sense of collapse in the architectures of meaning that would normally sustain my inner axis. It is something very akin to the concept of spiritual dryness and Saturn is precisely the key significator of everything that is cold and dry. It accurately describes a recent period I have been going through.

There is a also clear irony here, because the 9th house is the joy of the Sun, and yet it is precisely there that the planet weakening it is found.

This small exercise shows how horary can be used as an instrument for diagnosis of the moment itself, so as to understand the quality of the time and the nature of the internal experience. That alone restores some lucidity, which is always the first step towards a shift. Since the Sun is about to enter Pisces (a sign ruled by the great benefic Jupiter), where it loses its detrimental quality, I expect some improvement soon.
