It’s quite astonishing how Leonardo DiCaprio has this nasty Saturn sitting right on the 10th house of his career/vocation. It’s important that, when analyzing the planets, we see if there’s any congruenity between the planet itself and the house it is living in. Saturn is pretty much anti-10th house unless he is in good essential dignity and, even then, he can throw some time and nerve-consuming obstacles.
In the words of the late Norm MacDonald, this Saturn is a real jerk. It is in detriment, retrograde and ready to throw DiCaprio’s career under the bus if it has that window of opportunity. How can we explain this Saturn against the background of such a meteoric Hollywood career, then?
In Cancer, Saturn expresses his nastiness via the Moon, which is peregrine in Libra in the 1st. And they have a really interesting relationship these two. There is an intense applying square, but at the same time the mutual reception between them is excellent. Saturn in Cancer loves the Moon with all its heart, whilst the Moon in Libra exalts Saturn. They like each other. As much as Saturn is trying to sabotage DiCaprio’s career in entertainment (and Saturn is L5 in his chart), it loves the Moon which is L10. Saturn wants to ravage the career whilst loving it at the same. Paradoxical, yes, but it shows that Saturn at least is not trying to be the evilest of evils, which can be a minor mitigating factor.
Still, this cannot explain such a strong career. Moon, as L10, is peregrine in Libra without great strength and this sick Saturn is up there too. The two major significators of his trajectory as an actor are in poor condition. They have no great quality. The Moon, a luminary and L10, by being on the 1st, tells us that the profession falls upon the native with great visibility (again, it’s a luminary). In other words, the profession/vocation goes after him. The Moon also signifies the people/the masses, so having it as L10 in the 1st is like being followed after by a crowd. And the Moon absolutely loves Venus reception-wise. The masses/people/career love DiCaprio and go after him wherever he goes.
But the quality of this Moon is lackluster and expresses itself through a combust, detrimental Venus in Scorpio as L1, which despises the Moon by being in the latter’s fall. Leonardo is far from being interested in the masses and the career that comes with it. Interesting.
Venus is the major significator of the native as Lord of House 1. By sitting in the 2nd, we can say that the native himself attempts to turn his own artistic venusian body/talents/presence into something valuable, into something transactional that others are interesting in. Leonardo wants to turn his own body into wealth. But, again, this Venus is hurt by being in Scorpio and eclipsed by the Sun, which is L11, meaning that DiCaprio’s have had throughout close allies with money and power, but with a difficult relationship with him, since the Sun does not like Venus in terms of receptions.
Anyway, the guy has both luminaries on top of him, the Moon in the 1st and the Sun chasing L1, making him quite visible. There’s an argument to make about solar combustions making L1 extremely noticeable. If we think about it, being chased by the Sun is like having no place to hide, no rescuing shadows to take a break. Everywhere L1 goes, the Sun is there to expose his venusian presence in the world.
Then comes Jupiter, in domicile in Pisces in the 6th. First, it completely saves him from all the bad stuff signified by the 6th, which is mainly harsh, awful, subordinate work for low pay and the burden that it causes in life. This Jupiter will never allow such a thing, protecting the malefic 6th things from happening. And it sends a trine to the MC. This is most excellent. Any aspect creates a copy of the planet in that degree. In this case, the copy is a trine, which is the most beneficial of aspects. So this copy only contains the very best of the essential Jupiter in Pisces, which is already an extremely benefic planet in this chart. It’s also five degrees away from Fomalhaut, one of the four royal Persian stars, related to high honours, prestige and notoriety. It is a first-magnitude star, a category which in natal astrology has a six-degree range, so it favorably impacts Jupiter.
There is more. The antiscia of Jupiter falls on the 1st, and this antiscia is conjunct Spica, one of the most benefic fixed stars of all too. Another layer of protection, royal aid and prestige, combining Spica and Fomalhaut. In my experience, the impact of fixed stars can be absolutely crucial in natal charts, sometimes taking planets to heights and lows they would never reach on their own. And, really, how good can this Jupiter get in the chart? It’s even better, because, by being in Pisces, he exalts a weak Venus, which is the key significator of the native himself, and likes the L10 Moon via the triplicity of Water! He has all the intention to help L1 (native) and L10 (career), being especially enamored by Venus.
Jupiter receives a trine from Mars. This could be unfavorable, since we’re talking about a malefic. However, Mars is in domicile in Scorpio and the trine creates a copy that only contains the best qualities of an already pure Martial force in the 2nd house of resources. If anything, Mars, by being L7 (others, partners) and co-ruler of L2 (money, moveable wealth) helps Jupiter by adding his thrusting martial power to him.
So, again, we have a copy of Jupiter landing on the MC, which only contains the best of these qualities. Also, this trine falls on Cancer, the exaltation of… Jupiter! Indeed, Jupiter is the exaltation lord of Leonardo’s vocation. It’s the perfect Jupiter helping the MC, the career and visibility, the great benefic handing him the gifts like a Jovial guardian angel, throughout his life. Also favorable is the fact that Jupiter impacts the whole 2nd-6th-10th sequence by sitting right on the cusp of the 6th, influencing that entire triangle that is related to profession and money.
