The querent contacted me to ask whether she has a future as an astrologer by profession. I cast the chart and, with Leo rising, she is signified by the Sun, exalted in Aries, in the 9th house, the house of astrology and higher knowledge. The Sun also has its joy in the 9th, which gives it added strength by essential exaltation and accidental position. At least on the level of knowledge, the querent is very well equipped already.

The real question is whether she can make a profession of it, whether it can become her magisterium. For that we turn to the 10th house, which is Taurus, making Venus its significator. Venus is in domicile and placed right by the Midheaven, so she is extremely strong both essentially and accidentally. This also suggests that the profession itself is promising and capable of flourishing.

Even so, we still need something to connect the Sun and Venus, and there are no applying aspects between them. So we turn to the Moon, the querent’s co-significator, and we see that there has been a separating trine of only 0.49 degrees between Moon and Venus. This shows a very recent contact between the querent and astrology itself, perhaps through study or through her present engagement with the question that led to this horary. Still, it is separating.

So far, everything points to a no in terms of a realised profession. However, the next applications of the Moon (the querent) and Venus (the profession) are both to Jupiter: the Moon by opposition, arriving there first, and Venus by sextile, arriving there afterwards. This is a classic case of collection of light, since Jupiter is the slowest of the three planets, receives the light of both with no interferences from other planets, and brings the matter to perfection.

Jupiter is also very strong, exalted in Cancer, in its joy in the 11th house, where it is received by domicile by the Moon herself, and by Venus through the diurnal triplicity of Water, since this is a day sect chart. Jupiter is entirely capable of perfecting the matter, with no debility to block it. The 11th house shows that friends, networks, patrons, and supporters will be essential to make it happen. The fact that the Part of Fortune is also right on the top of the MC is a positive second significator too.

Nevertheless, Mercury in detriment and fall in Pisces, in the malefic 8th house, signifies the money from the profession itself, as it rules the 11th house cusp in Gemini, which is the 2nd from the 10th. It is a negative testimony from a financial perspective. But Jupiter, the universal significator of money, can counter-balance this, given how strong he is essentially and accidentally, plus it also disposes the 8th house cusp where Mercury is. And this, being the 11th from the 10th, once again points to the support of her professional network.

The verdict, then, is a yes.
