I cast a horary chart for a bus journey back home taking place today, with an estimated duration of four hours. The question concerned the quality of the journey itself.

The Ascendant is in Cancer, therefore I am signified by the Moon. The Moon is in Sagittarius in the 6th house, a house of wear and depletion for the querent. It is choleric, less cold than usual and more active, and placed in a sign associated with travel, being itself a natural significator of movement. This describes accurately a body that is tired, but in a state of motion.

The 9th house is the house of journeys not connected to daily routine, regardless of their length. Its cusp is in Pisces, so Jupiter signifies the journey. Jupiter is located exactly on the degree of the Ascendant (!), exalted in Cancer and retrograde. There are about two hours left before the journey begins, so it makes complete sense that Jupiter is already literally upon me. The retrograde motion points to return, a going back to one’s place of origin. Since the quality of the journey is the main concern, Jupiter becomes the most relevant significator.

This is a phlegmatic Jupiter, in a cardinal sign and therefore in a condition of movement, and exalted, which strengthens its capacity to act effectively in the short term. Nothing here points to delays or blockages. Were it in a fixed sign, the interpretation could be different. In addition, Jupiter does not receive negative aspects from any malefic that could disturb the journey. There could be rain, since Jupiter is the god of rain and is in a wet sign. Keep also in mind that Cancer is related to Major Arcana VII – The Chariot and movement, which in this case makes the symbol quite literal.

There is also mutual reception by domicile between the Moon and Jupiter, the strongest form of mutual reception in astrology. Although the Moon is placed in the 6th house, reflecting my physical tiredness due to a long coach journey, the mutual reception shows that the journey will be carried out and completed as intended with no hinderences.
