The Sun has departed from his throne in Leo, the royal house of fixed fire where he manifests his sovereignty. He now enters the mutable earth of Virgo, the cadent sixth sign, mercurial by excellence, the field of labour, purification and service. This passage precedes the equinoctial descent, when balance is demanded and the scales open upon the axis of day and night.
The present ingress is further charged by the conjunction with Mercury himself, who will soon dwell in his own house throughout next month, and by the promise of a partial solar eclipse at the anaretic degree of Virgo, sealing the cycle with a shadow upon the very limit of this sign. The reading was performed at the exact moment of the Solar Logos’ entrance into Virgo, under the smoke of sandalwood incense, during the planetary hour of the Sun on the day of Venus, beneath the guardianship of the Venusian Archangel Haniel and of the Solar Archangel Michael, following the utterance of Psalm 67, on the day of the Coronation of Mary.
The cards opened in the four quarters, each aligned to the cardinal points of heaven and to the four angles of the chart. Each position speaks through a question: North as root and memory, South as mission and manifestation, West as the Other and the reflection, East as body and presence.
I. North: What Ancient Purification Demands Fidelity?

In the northern quadrant rose the Four of Wands, Chesed of Atziluth, Venus in the cardinal fire of Aries at the final decan, under the aegis of the Principalities Nanael and Nithael. This card stands upon the house of memory and hidden foundation, the subterranean root from which the soul draws its strength. The presence of Venus in cardinal fire reveals a work of purification tied to the oldest covenant of beauty and desire. The flame here stabilises into a structure of four pillars, the altar of union erected in the depths of the heart.
The northern root recalls that all acts of purification must honour a fidelity more ancient than any personal vow: the covenant between Eros and cosmos, where desire is raised as a bridge to the Divine. The Four of Wands is often pictured as a wedding canopy and, in the hermetic register, it speaks of a foundation built on concord, on the joy of celebration. When this card governs the North it indicates that the purification demanded is the refinement into a force of fidelity, a memory of the first love that binds the soul to its origin.
Venus, clothed in fire, ignites the covenant with the Logos. The Principalities ruling this decan protect nations and collective destinies, reminding that fidelity is an offering to the body of creation. The Four of Wands is the hidden seed beneath Sun in Virgo: purification cannot be achieved by retreating from desire, but by consecrating desire into covenant.
II. South: What Spiritual Work Is Required In This Cycle?

TWO OF CUPS
In the south appeared the Two of Cups, Chokmah of Briah, Venus again, this time in the cardinal water of Cancer; first decan, under the Angels Eiael and Habuhiah.
This card of union and reciprocity rises in the place of mission, the visible crown of the work. The image is simple: two cups raised, waters joined, the covenant sealed through a sacrament of reflection. The mission under Virgo is one of service to love, where the union of opposites is held in chalices that overflow into each other. The axis North-South is revealed in splendour. Venus appears in both cards, once in fire, once in water, in cardinal signs that mark beginnings and openings. The work of purification demanded in these roots finds its fulfilment in love manifested in the crown.
The Sun, descending into Virgo, submits to service, to the labour of tending, healing, reconciling. The Two of Cups in the South announces that the mission of this cycle is more than solitary asceticism. It is communion where the Logos is revealed through mutual recognition, the gaze that sees itself in the Other and drinks of the same spring.
Chokmah of Briah situates this card in the realm of wisdom expressed through the creative waters. The angels protecting this decan are healers of the body and the land, teaching that the spiritual work is to sanctify it through the exchange of love. This confirms that the ingress of the Sun into Virgo is an opening to sacramental service, where the Logos is poured like living water through clay vessels.
The crown of the work is love as sacrament. The purification of the root becomes the healing of the world. The Sun in Virgo is a the lamp upon the altar of creation.
III. West: What Reflection or Other Will Mirror This Transition?

QUEEN OF WANDS
In the western quadrant, the Queen of Wands, Briah of Fire, ruling between the final decan of Pisces and the final decan of Aries. She appears here as sovereign of flame, bearing in her hand the living wand that blossoms even under the desert sun. In the place of the Other, she declares that this transition of the Sun into Virgo will be mirrored by figures of fiery sovereignty, reflections of confidence, passion, and luminous authority. The Queen embodies fire itself and whoever encounters her becomes mirror to their own hidden spark.
Placed in the West, this card indicates that the reflection received during this solar cycle will come through those who embody the fire of will and creative passion. The Queen of Wands radiates her might and demands the same from those who meet her gaze. This means that, in the labour of Virgo, where service might risk becoming self-effacing or excessively humble, the mirror will come through those who refuse to diminish their light.
Her dominion between Pisces and Aries suggests a passage from dissolution to ignition, from the end of one cycle to the beginning of another. The reflection in this quarter will call the soul to cross from dream into act. The Queen in the West assures that service without fire is sterile, but, when desire is consecrated, service becomes sovereignty.
The Queen of Salamanders as reflection proclaims: to serve the Logos is to enthrone it in wisdom.
IV. East: How Should the Spark Manifest in Presence and Body?

EIGHT OF PENTACLES
In the eastern quadrant, much to the astonishment of this liturgy, appeared the Eight of Pentacles, Hod of Assiah, the Sun in Virgo itself; first decan, under the guardianship of the Seraphim Achaiah and Cahethel. This is nothing less than the card of the very ingress being read, a seal of exact correspondence between heaven and earth.
The East governs the ascendant, the presence and the body, and to find here the Sun in Virgo itself is a confirmation of celestial order beyond human contrivance. The Eight of Pentacles is the image of a craftsman, labouring with patience over the perfection of his work. Each coin bears the solar seal, and each hammer stroke consecrates matter. This is the Sun clothed in earth mutable, the Logos descending into service, in the discipline of work, repetition, refinement. The Seraphim who rule this decan are of the highest choir, fiery beings who contemplate God face to face, and yet they preside here over the humblest labours of matter. This paradox is the heart of the reading: the highest fire dwells within the most patient work.
The body under this card is called to manifest the Spark through service, precise labour, consecration of daily tasks. The East proclaims that incarnation itself is the workshop of the Logos. The appearance of the very card of Sun in Virgo in the eastern gate of presence is a seal of brutal clarity, leaving no doubt that this ingress is a direct call to embody the Spark through labour sanctified.
The Seraphim mark this work with the fire of Love that knows no shadow. To labour under their gaze is to polish each act into a mirror of Divine Light. The body becomes temple, the gesture becomes rite, and the daily task becomes sacrament.
Coda: The Seal of the Ingress
The cross of the four cards forms a seal. In the North, Venus in fire calls for fidelity to desire consecrated. In the South, Venus in water crowns the work as love sacramental. In the West, the Queen of Wands reflects the necessity of fire enthroned in sovereignty. In the East, the Sun in Virgo himself rises, labouring in matter under the eyes of the Seraphim.
The passage of the Sun into Virgo is a step from sovereignty into service. But this service is consecration, where desire purified becomes covenant, love becomes mission, fire becomes reflection, and labour turns into sacrament.
This reading reveals the ingress of the solar Logos into Virgo as a cosmic gateway. The Spark within is manifested through it. The fire of the Seraphim burns within the craftsman’s workshop, and the Queen of Wands assures that sovereignty is transfigured in duty. The North-South covenant of Venus unites root and crown, anchoring the work in fidelity and love.
