My mother rang me very early in the morning. I could not answer straight away, but I was almost certain it had to do with a financial matter she was expecting me to sort out. I decided to cast a horary chart simply to make sure the conversation would go as smoothly as possible.

The chart is eloquent. Gemini is rising, so I, as querent, am signified by Mercury in detriment and fall in Pisces, precisely in the 10th house, the house of my mother. Being in a mute sign and void of course, with no aspects to perfect before leaving the sign, this reflects the fact that I did not reply to the message immediately. My significator being placed in her house shows that my mind is focused on her.

The 10th house has Pisces on the cusp and so Lord 10, my mother, is signified by Jupiter exalted in Cancer between the 1st and 2nd houses, so between me and my finances, exactly as I expected the matter to concern. The 2nd house is also my mother’s derived 5th, which means that she has me on her mind, but she also concerned with her own 4th, her home (my 1st). Given Jupiter’s strong condition, we may say that my mother was in a much stronger position than I was for the conversation. The contrast between Lord 1 in detriment and fall and Lord 10 exalted is clear.

My co-significator the Moon has also just entered Pisces and is already right up by the MC, so it too already has its feet on the cusp of the 10th house. And what is the Moon’s next aspect? Precisely a Moon–Jupiter trine, with the former obviously applying to the latter. It is the most favourable aspect, especially with mutual reception by domicile like this, with mutual placement, and with both planets in good condition as well. Couldn’t ask for anything better! The presence of the North Node nearby is another yet secondary positive sign.

And, an hour later, I rang my mother, and everything was quickly cleared up. It was also agreed that I would see her soon for her birthday!
